Here is part of the table at the start of the meal, I hope that using my Australian flag as a tablecloth isn't deemed unpatriotic... and if you're wondering why I'm using a Swiss cheese fondue caquelon, I didn't have anything else which was the right size for the fondue stand.

Happy Australia Day / Lunar New Year!
As well as being the Lunar New Year today, it is also Australia Day, and I decided late last night to host a steamboat in celebration. Why not you know? I didn't feel like holding a real party, but dinner with my housemates, neighbour and Australian collegue is fun enough. *smiles* I was worried about how it would turn out, since I've never actually done a steamboat by myself, though I have been to plenty, but since most of the others had never been to one before, it didn't really matter. *grins* It is a little strange over here, you can buy the meat for steamboat at the supermarket, but it comes all rolled up and frozen, but it turned out fine and I think everybody enjoyed it, which is all that matters really.
