Final Operation

Today I went back to the hospital for what I really hope is my last operation relating to my fingernail.

They were running very late and I had to wait for an hour and a half after my appointment time to go into the theatre. They tell me that they now think it was the beginnings of a melanoma. So today they would be taking more of finger out, as well performing the skin graft, taking the sample from my hip.

This meant I was getting cut up by two people in two different areas of my body which wasn't fun. The finger work wasn't too bad other than the injections, but the hip work was a little weird as I could still feel the pressure from the scalpel and scissors, even if I couldn't feel any pain. The sewing up of that cut also hurt a little as my skin is fairly tight around that area without the extra pressure of being pulled to cover a cut

Afterwards though, it's been my finger which has been bleeding and hurting heaps. I'm typing this entry with my left hand as it hurts too much to do it with right. I am indebted to my collegue for picking me up and driving me home, dropping by the pharmacy and supermarket on the way.
