Shift Training
Just finished a day of DAQ/HLT shift training. For those who don't know, the Atlas Detector which I work on is run on a shift system, and each institute is allocated a number of shifts which they need to cover a year according to how many people there are from the institute. Last year I sat Trigger shifts (which I wrote about here) but since the LHC isn't running yet, and they aren't running any Trigger shifts until after I leave Geneva. So I had to look for another type of shift which was running next month and which I could easily train for. And from the training today, it seemed like DAQ/HLT shifts were fairly similar to Trigger ones, they are both looking at the data aquistion off the detector, just with different focuses, but I'll find out more when I sit some shadow shifts later.
